The world's first organic rum comes to British shores next week, shipped in by The Organic Spirits Company. The Surrey based outfit claims the newcomer, Papagayo, which will initially only hit shelves in Sainsbury's, is a first for the domestic market. Imported from Arroyos y Esteros, a remote area of Paraguay 60 miles north of the capital Asuncion, the 37.5% strength white rum will be available in 700ml bottles priced £12.50. It will join a range that already boasts Juniper Green, purported to be the world's first organic gin, and UK5  Britain's first organic vodka. Organic Spirits' managing director Chris Parker said: "We have had many requests for an organic rum, particularly from the 18 to 35 age group. Papagayo offers something new and exciting. "We expect it to create the same level of trade and consumer excitement that greeted organic gin and vodka." {{DRINKS }}
