The major multiples' trading practices could have contributed to the foot and mouth epidemic, according to a leading figure in the Irish food trade. Speaking about FMD at the Federation of Wholesale Distributors' annual conference, Musgrave Group md Seamus Scally said: "I can't help but think the multiples' practice of driving down food prices at all cost is an unhealthy contributor to cutting corners on safety.
