The 18th Budgens forecourt outlet has opened bringing the total number of stores trading under the Budgens Local fascia to 30, with two more to open by the end of October.
The portfolio is still under the Budgens target to open 50 Locals by August 2002.
But Budgens franchise operations director Norman Kears said: "We are not just chasing numbers, we want good quality independent sites. However, now we are owned by Musgrave, there are various ways of achieving more than that 50."
The latest 2,000 sq ft Budgens is its first operated by petrol specialist Lakeside Group, and is based in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
It is the first Budgens Local forecourt store to offer its hot food concept a range of freshly prepared hot food including rotisserie-roasted meat and poultry and Indian and Chinese dishes to take away.
Breakfast meal solutions are also available, including fresh ground coffee to go.
