Tesco's US convenience format Fresh & Easy, which is set to open its first stores in the country later this year, has been attacked by US researchers.
A damning report by the Urban & Environment Policy Initiative in Los Angeles has criticised Tesco's social responsibility claims and has claimed the retailer will open larger stores in the country in the future.
“Tesco doesn't always live up to its promises and we believe consumers should be aware of its international track record,” Bob Gottlieb, one of the authors of the report told the Independent. “Our report is the start of educating the public about the pros and cons of Tesco's arrival in the US.”
