The group has plans to convert 30 Somerfields to the format by Christmas, and a further 20 by the end of March.
Steve Tremlett, Somerfield head of formats, said that the fascia was an important part of the group’s growth strategy.
“Market Fresh has been our most successful format in terms of customer reaction and financial performance, and has won a number of industry awards demonstrating that is the UK’s best small fresh format.”
There are currently 13 Market Fresh stores in Somerfield’s portfolio, most of which are in London. Over the next nine months the fascia will appear throughout the country.
Somerfield has created four main focal points for the Market Fresh format - fresh food, deli, in-store bakery and wine - and wants to support these areas with in-store expertise.
