Wholesalers and buying groups are getting in on the biggest promotional event of the year with preparations for World Cup-themed campaigns.

Nisa-Today's is launching Football Crazy next month, inviting Today's members to take part in Football Fun days at depots, including football games and giveaways. Well-known former footballers including Sir Geoff Hurst and Jimmy Greaves are booked to appear at the events.

Spar's campaign for its retailers bears the strapline 'Result - half-time satisfaction, full-time treats'. Beer, crisps and frozen pizza will be the main focus for offers, which will include a full meal deal and own label package. A teaser campaign has already hit stores.

Separately, Londis aims to send Football Fever-branded packs of PoS material to its retailers. Face paints and balloons will be issued for events at stores. 'Super' and 'diamond' offers are planned for areas such as snacks and beers.
