Logistics provider Gist has invested £4m in extending and remodelling two of its distribution depots to service its food contract with Marks and Spencer.

Some £3.5m will be spent upgrading its Barnsley site which services 21 M&S stores in the Yorkshire area, to house long life products plus an additional 32,500 sq ft temperature controlled facility for chilled fresh foods.

The rest has been invested at Gist's Swindon depot, to change its approach its handling of M&S’ flat-packed goods.
