Unilever Bestfoods' head of marketing for beverages William Brown will move to Unilever's London head office to become vice-president of the global Unilever brand.
Brown will take up his post at the beginning of March to begin work on enhancing Unilever Bestfoods' corporate identity and branding.
Business group director for spreads, creams and desserts Paul Nevett will add Brown's responsibilities for beverage brands such as PG Tips and Lipton to his duties. At the same time he will retain marketing responsibility for such brands as Flora, Olivio and Ambrosia.
Chris Springford, who handles marketing for savoury brands such as Knorr and Pot Noodle, will keep his present role and responsibilities.
Brown joined Unilever in 1986 as a marketing trainee with Batchelors Foods. He was appointed group business director for beverages in January 2000. His main career achievements include leading the introduction of PG Tips Pyramid bags, overseeing the UK development of Lipton Ice Tea and the UK launch of Chicken Tonight.
Nevett and Springford will be aiming to add to the 10% annual profit increase Unilever posted last week.
However, they will also be looking to contribute further to global sales, which the consumer products giant said had fallen 7% to E48.8bn in the year to December 31 2002.
