Speculation mounted that Unilever would sell off the bakery business within Bestfoods after it sold European Bakeries Supplies Business for £440m  just a month after its £13.3bn purchase of Bestfoods. CSM, based in Amsterdam, has taken over EBSB which supplies to 14 countries on the continent. Its brands include Entenmann's and Boboli Italian pizza crusts. Investec analyst David Lang said: "This is all part of a major reshaping of Unilever's portfolio, and their biggest deal for some time. "There may well be larger to follow. I suspect the bakery business within Bestfoods will be disposed of rapidly. Bakery products are successful in Europe but a bit of a headache in England." Unilever says it wants to focus on fewer stronger brands to allow faster growth. Chairman Niall FitzGerald said: "We are delighted to found in CSM a new corporate parent for EBSB." {{NEWS }}
