Former Big Food Group and Iceland CEO Bill Grimsey has resurfaced as senior managing director of FTI Palladium Partners, a consultancy that specialises in corporate turnarounds and restructuring.

Grimsey - who last September told The Grocer that he was taking a gap year travelling, relaxing at his holiday home in Majorca and "learning how to fly" - has taken up the new role with Bill Hoskins, former finance director of The Big Food Group.

Grimsey said he had accepted the role after an approach from FTI. "As we are experts in corporate recovery in the initial stages of a takeover, Bill and I decided to specialise in this." Grimsey's past experience includes recovering DIY chain Wickes from near insolvency as CEO and implementing a refinancing and turnaround at The Big Food Group, which was sold to Icelandic retail predator Baugur last year.
