Sainsbury has started stocking garlic grown in England for the first time in seven years.

With changes in climate along with new cultivation methods, farmers are now able to grow garlic in the UK.

The recent warm weather has also ensured the produce was available two weeks earlier than expected.

The garlic is grown in the fertile sandy loam soils of Lincolnshire and selected by hand.

Garlic buyer Russell Crowe said: “It has taken years of hard work to develop and grow the English garlic to a standard that our customers would expect.

“The garlic has an exceptional flavour with a slightly sweeter taste and stronger smell.”
