Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has posted half-year like-for-like sales growth of 3%.
In an update on trading at the society’s interim meeting held last week, Chelmsford Star, which trades across Essex, also said gross profit rose 3.6% in the past six months.
Sales rose 9.8%, boosted by the acquisition of a new forecourt site, as well as a “much improved” performance from its travel division.
CEO Barry Wood added that the society had refitted four stores in the past six months and would open its 39th c-store, in Stanford-le-Hope, in January next year.
A roll out of a new EPoS system is also expected to be completed by February.
Chelmsford Star is the UK’s ninth biggest retail co-op, with sales of £93.7m.
