Richard Samson, chief executive of Heart of England Co-op, is leaving to fill the same post at Ipswich and Norwich Co-operative Society.
He will replace William Brown who has been chief executive for 20 years and retires in October. During that time, he helped make Ipswich and Norwich Co-op, which runs 75 food stores, one of the major c-store operators in East Anglia.
Ipswich and Norwich Co-operative Society clocked up £274m in sales last year, versus £272m the year earlier.
Samson said: “Heart of England Co-op is the 18th
largest co-op in the UK with 1,000 employees.
“Ipswich and Norwich is 7th largest and nearly four times the size, with almost 3,000 employees.”
