>>A ROUND-UP OF THE HOTTEST ACTION IN FMCG

The heat is on at asda
Own-label supplier S&A Foods has relaunched and extended its existing Asda Indian chilled ready meal range. As well as hotter varieties of dishes such as Friday night favourite Vindaloo, the 92-strong range includes 18 new concepts. The improved range, which boasts revamped packaging, will offer 16 new products, 22 improved recipes of existing products and 36 repackaged versions of existing recipes.

AWT gets even saucier
TV chef Antony Worrall Thompson is this month launching four sauces and relishes under the AWT brand. Two sauces - Hot Mango & Chilli and Hot Honey & Chilli Mustard - are being launched alongside Cranberry & Chilli and Apple & Chilli relishes. The products, previously sold under the Horned Fox brand in Nottcuts garden centres and Partridges, will initially be sold into independents with listings in the major multiples expected to follow next month.

Magners targets off-trade
Irish cider brand Magners is planning a massive push into the off-trade after a successful launch in pubs. The drink will initially be available through Morrisons, Spar and selected Asdas, as well as independent off-licences. It will be sold in a one-litre bottle format (rsp: £1.99) or as a pack of four 500ml cans (rsp:£5.49).
