Like-for-like sales for the group were down 0.5% for the thirteen weeks to 2 July 2004.
For the Booker business sales were down 1.1%, which can be broken down into a sales decline of 0.1 for its tobacco sector and a drop of 1.8% for its non tobacco services.
Iceland like-for-like sales were also down for the group with a sales drop of 1.7%. The decline was said to be seen in the stores that are awaiting renewal while the refit programme continues throughout the portfolio.
Only Woodward Foodservice achieved strong sales growth with a 32.2% rise in like-for-like sales.
