Cereals up 3.4%

Sales of breakfast cereals increased 3.4% to £1.5bn in the year to 3 December 2006, despite bad publicity about sugar and salt content in some products, according to TNS Worldpanel. Growth was driven by new products in the premium and health sectors.

M&S enters Taiwan

Marks & Spencer is to open a store in Taiwan in May, in a joint venture with President Chain Stores. It’s not clear what fascia will be used. The store will sell clothing, non-food goods and some ambient food.

Wilko food roll-out

High street retailer Wilkinson is set to roll out its 6,000-product grocery offer to a further 117 stores following successful trials in 20 stores.
