The Irish Food Safety Authority has warned the industry that salt used in food preparation must be cut by a third to reduce the 41% of deaths caused by heart disease.
Thurso no to Asda
Asda has been refused planning permission for its first store in the Highlands. Members of the area planning committee said the store in Thurso did not fit its blueprint for the town. Asda will appeal.
Surgery idea blasted
Doctors have condemned government plans to open GP surgeries in supermarkets. Members of the British Medical Association said that the surgeries could not operate in stores where alcohol, tobacco and junk food were available to buy.
