A report on pick rates at Asda's distribution centres will be delayed until next month. An ergonomics expert visited Asda's Wigan depot in July after GMB expressed concerns that Asda wanted to raise pick rate levels.
Ethical spend soars
UK shoppers are set to spend more than £2bn on ethical foods this year, an increase of 62% on 2002's spend, said Mintel. Fairtrade will hit £230m this year, up 265% on 2002, with sales likely to reach £547m by 2011.
More is recycled
A government target to recycle and compost 25% of household waste in England by 2005/06 has been exceeded. Defra said households recycled 27% of their waste.
