Welfare praise

The Co-operative Group, M&S, Tesco and Waitrose have all been shortlisted in the supermarket category of the RSPCA's Good Business awards, which reward companies for setting higher animal welfare standards in the food, fashion and cosmetics industries.

Doing it by the book

Woolworths is taking on Argos and Tesco Direct with its new Big Red Book, a catalogue containing more than 6,000 products including toys, electrical goods, confectionery and Christmas decorations. It will be distributed through its high street stores.
