The Home Grown Cereals Authority has awarded a total of £250,000 to 11 innovative UK companies in its latest Enterprise Awards.
Waitrose, Schwan's consumer brands and Pride Valley Foods were among the winners.
Waitrose got £10,000 towards developing and promoting a British alternative to French free range chicken, while Deans Foods received £16,000 towards introducing ready shelled hard boiled eggs to the UK.
Food from Britain in Italy got £20,000 to introduce a range of British real ales to Italy ­ including Red McGregor and Summer Lightning.
The closing date for funding in the next round of the biannual Enterprise award scheme is Monday (June 30).
