Mike Igoe, Jacksons’ business development manager, said the two stores would have the new Sainsbury’s at Jacksons branding, with more fresh and chilled products and stocking 300 Sainsbury own label chilled lines.
Both will feature in-store TVs, broadcasting promotional offers. Additionally, Jacksons is exploring tailoring TV ads to the Yorkshire TV Belmont region.
The Save@Jacksons mobile phone promotion is being extended to 30 more stores after tests at the Jacksons Anlaby Park store in Hull significantly boosted sales.
Registered shoppers receive a barcode and membership number via a text message and scan this in at checkouts to receive weekly discounts on products. Marc Lewis, chief executive of Light, creator of Save@Jacksons, said sales had risen 4.7% at the store in the four months since the June launch. Of 1,000 customers at the trial store, 292 registered for the scheme.
