Name: Willie Tucker Position: Chief executive Company: Midlands Co-operative Society The job: As of September 1, will be in charge of a £650m a year independent co-op society with 8,000 staff. It operates: 125 food stores, of which 10 are 25,000+ sq ft superstores; 30 non-food outlets; 90 travel shops (as well as a burgeoning e-travel business); 68 funeral homes; a dairy operation processing more than five million pints of milk a week, delivering to 400,000 homes, hospitals, schools and retail outlets; and a garage services business. There is also a large property portfolio. The background: Tucker succeeds Lord Fyfe of Fairfield, who retires on September 1 and who will be taking up his seat in the House of Lords.
