A new flat peach has gone on limited sale in Sainsbury this week.

The Paraguayo variety of peach, grown in Spain, is shaped like a donut and was traditionally a wild peach, but has since been cultivated for commercial production.

Sainsbury said that the fruit is described as having a white flesh with a sweet and juicy texture.

It is currently available in 300 Sainsbury stores for only a few weeks.

Matthew King, Sainsbury's stone fruit buyer said: “Sainsbury is constantly looking for new and innovative products within produce. The Paraguayo peach is just one of the new novel fruits on sale and will be on trial in selected stores for a couple of weeks.”
