Safeway has doubled its Back to School range this year, with an offering that focuses on economy priced basics.

A spokeswoman said it wanted to offer value and breadth of range with the 80 new products, rather than big brands, as it did last year.

Parents would be able to kit their children out for the new school year from around £15 each, she said.

Adult shoppers for stationery were also
being targeted with the range. Back to School products going into all Safeway stores include a case with pencils at 99p, a calculator, also at 99p, a backpack at £3.99 and felt tips at £1.49.

The new Safeway Back to School range also includes notebooks, desk organisers and highlighters.

A selection of Barbie, Simpsons and Winnie the Pooh accessories are also included.
