Kraft Foods is being investigated by the Takeover Panel over allegations it misled employees and investors over the closure of Cadbury’s Somerdale manufacturing plant.

Shortly after completing its takeover of Cadbury, the US manufacturer confirmed it would stick with Cadbury’s original plan to close the factory.

That was despite having previously stated its “original intent” was to “reverse the closure programme”.

The panel received a complaint against Kraft from local Tory parliamentary candidate Amoree Radford.

Kraft has refused to comment.
