Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs Lila has snapped up Food Brands Group, owners of the Percol coffee brand.
Löfbergs is already a major supplier to Food Brands, which was owned by Electra Partners and management. Food Brands owns the Percol make of Fairtrade coffee, which is positioned at the premium end of the market, as well as the Rocket Fuel energy drink brand.
With a turnover of more than €200m, Löfbergs is one of the largest importers of ecological and Fairtrade coffee in the world.
Gambit Corporate Finance advised Food Brands’ shareholders on the sale.
“Food Brands is a very well-run business which has created an exceptional brand position and reputation for premium products with an impressive level of product listings with the UK’s leading supermarket chains. These factors made Food Brands a very attractive opportunity for Löfbergs,” said Gambit director Andrew Charter.
