Landmark Wholesale is to share expertise learnt through its Hot House store development scheme with retail and wholesale members who are not in it.

The buying group wants particular emphasis on selling more core range items after a survey found sales of top-sellers such as PG Tips, Flora margarine, Walkers crisps, Carling and Pepsi were up 25% in Hot House retailers, which trade as Lifestyle Express, and by 3% in other independents.

"Many retailers are missing out on potential sales going elsewhere, and possibly out of the independent channel, just by not having top selling lines in stock," said Raj Krishan, retail controller for Landmark. Meanwhile, delivered wholesaler Sun Oil has become the latest company to join Landmark. Sun Oil delivers ambient lines to more than 300 customers within the M25. It operates from a warehouse in Greenford, Middlesex, and last year reported turnover up 36% to £25.8m.
