Waitrose is pressing on with the rapid expansion of its burgeoning network of convenience stores, with central Leeds confirmed as the site for its 14th store in the smaller format.
The outlet in The Core shopping centre on Lands Lane will open at the end of November following a multimillion-pound refurbishment.
The 5,271 sq ft unit will be the first Waitrose in central Leeds and its first convenience store in Yorkshire. A store in Meanwood, on the outskirts of the city, opens today.
“We are always overwhelmed by the number of requests we receive to open in Leeds city centre, which mirrors our own long-standing desire to come here,” said Waitrose head of convenience stores Jon Arnold.
“With the opening of our store in Meanwood today and the arrival of our first store in York next month, it demonstrates our continued ambition to bring the Waitrose offer to more shoppers across Yorkshire.”
