NFU marketing director Helen Lo will join Unilever in July in a newly created post to manage social and environmental strategy across its UK business units. Lo said the new position reflected Unilever's growing awareness that a credible policy in these areas was essential for forging good relations with NGOs, retailers, consumers and investors. "Sustainability is key to the business," said Lo. "It doesn't necessarily impact the bottom line directly, but it is crucial to the customer's perception of the business, and increasingly to the City. "I will be operating at a strategic level to look at providing a consistent policy across Unilever's diverse business units, on agriculture, the environment, community affairs and corporate social responsibility." {{NEWS }}
