The service, which enables Londis retailers to order temperature-controlled products for delivery on Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday, allows those with the Londis Laser integrated scanning system to automatically replenish stock, said trading director John Taylor.
Retailers will have the choice of a greater range of fresh and chilled lines as well as Budgens own label products.
The service will be rolled out to 40 stores in coming weeks to assess demand from Londis retailers before deciding whether to invest in more trucks and expand Londis’s chilled facilities.
He added: “The Budgens products have been well received in the Londis stores. They’re well packaged and the quality is excellent.”
Musgrave is also hoping to offer Londis retailers improved terms this month as it irons out discrepancies in the price files of Budgens and Londis and drives up efficiency at the combined group.
There will also be a move to reduce duplication in the Londis range.
