The wholesaler, which also owns the Budgens fascia, said a third of the new retailers had switched to the Londis name from a rival symbol group. New retailers include a number of multiple account owners, including forecourt retailer MPK Garages, which has 40 stores and signed up to Londis in June. The new retailers include a broad range of store sizes and locations, including neighbourhood, convenience and forecourt formats.
Londis sales director Paul Courtney said the figure confirmed Londis' position as a leading symbol group of choice for retailers who were looking for a fresh approach to running their businesses.
"These numbers illustrate the significant strides we are making and validates Londis as the partner of choice for independent retailers," he added.
