The ‘Specially for London’ promotion involves press advertising and leaflets that encourage Londoners to visit its stores by promoting the Extra Special range.
The leaflet offers ‘£2.50 off Extra Special, Specially for London’ and shows a stylised map of the city to direct customers to its 22 stores in the city.
Angela Spindler, customer and strategy director, said: “We think that we can do a lot more in London. One of our big pushes is to talk to customers. We’ve got great prices all under one roof and not all grocery retailers can say that they can offer that to their London customers.”
Spindler also said that Asda was currently working on its national advertising strategy for 2006 now that its ‘Mums in a million’ frontwoman Sharon Osbourne had parted company with the retailer. She said Santa Claus would feature heavily in Asda’s Christmas advertising campaign.
