Full-year losses at GT News have widened as the CTN retailer continues a five-year reorganisation.

The chain, which has 43 GT-branded stores and 21 Spar stores in the Midlands and the north of England, reported a pre-tax loss of £75,800 in the year to 30 June, against a loss of £10,950 the year before. Sales rose 1% to £32.4m.

While one new store had opened last year, four non-profitable stores had closed, said CEO Mark Titterton, and this year GT had continued to dispose of stores that no longer met strategic objectives. Existing stores were being refurbished, he added.
