The Spar and Vivo operator is investing £18m in company-owned retail division Henderson Retail and a further £3m with its independent retailers.
The money will be spent on 20 company-owned stores, including a mixture of new builds and knock down and rebuild projects.
Henderson Group currently has 52 company-owned stores and supplies 350 Spar and Vivo stores through its delivered wholesale business. It added 27 new stores to its various symbols during 2005 and redeveloped 63 others.
Paddy Doody, sales and marketing director for Henderson Wholesale, said: “2005 showed a solid growth despite tough market conditions.”
Henderson is also planning to spend £6.4m marketing its retail brands, Spar, Eurospar, Vivo and Vivoxtra. The bulk of this, £5m, will come directly from Spar UK.
