Marks and Spencer chairman Luc Vandevelde has been nominated to the board of French retailer Carrefour.

Carrefour will nominate two new members at its April 27 general assembly, Vandevelde and José Luis Leal Maldonado, president of the Spanish banking association.

Vandevelde and Maldonado will replace former board members Paul-Louis Halley, who died last December, and Philippe Foriel-Destezet, who resigned.

Carrefour noted that its board has also decided to reduce the service terms of directors to from six years to four years.
