Marks & Spencer has hired a second top executive from Asda as it competes for market share with the supermarket’s popular George label.

Helen Low, design general manager for George, has been appointed head of design for children’s clothing at M&S starting in October this year.

Low follows the May appointment of Kate Bostock, who became director of womenswear in May having previously worked in the clothing division of Asda.

M&S said to the Times yesterday that the two appointments from Asda were unconnected.
