Midlands Co-operative Society hit the road in a mobile food truck last month while work was being carried out at one of its Derbyshire stores.
It transformed a vehicle usually used for promotional purposes into a mobile food store and set up shop in the carpark of its Wirksworth c-store, which was undergoing refurbishment and officially re-opened last Thursday. Shoppers to the mobile store were given money-off coupons for fuel and food to redeem on opening day.
“The mobile shop has been a success,” said head of retail Michael Spencer. “It has given us the opportunity to maintain a service for regular customers and a platform to engage with them about the new store.”
