Midlands Co-op is pumping £30m into its food retail estate next year as part of an ongoing refurbishment programme that is designed to raise store standards.
The UK’s third largest co-op, with 154 food retail sites, Midlands posted a 5% rise in food retail sales in the half year to August 7 and a 5.7% increase in trading profit to £10.9m
Midlands has opened three new stores acquired from Budgens over the last year and bought 30 former Alldays sites. Chief executive Willie Tucker said he was still on the acquisition trail.
