The aromatic miniature cigar, which has won listings in Sainsbury from the end of the month, has an Ecuadorian-grown wrapper with a mild coffee flavour.
The product has already sold well across Europe.
Gallaher, the producer of Benson & Hedges and Silk Cut cigarette brands, said it planned to ramp up activity for its miniature cigar portfolio as smokers
moved towards more Continental flavours.
Jeremy Blackburn, Gallaher’s trade communications manager, said: “Both the miniature and aromatic sectors are growing in popularity and the launch of Cappuccino will help retailers take advantage of this increased consumer demand.”
Cappuccino - which comes in tins of 10 cigars - has a retail price of £3.15.
This positions it alongside Café Crème by Henri Wintermans, which is owned by rival Imperial Tobacco, and Gallaher’s own Hamlet miniature cigar brand. Gallaher also launched Hamlet Smooth miniatures last year.
“Cappuccino enables retailers to offer a complete range for all tastes. The brand is currently sold in 40 countries worldwide and will offer smokers in the UK a new alternative Continental cigar,” said Blackburn.
