Morrisons has won a double this week, grabbing our Top Store service award to match its first place showing in The Grocer 33 weekly price survey.

Our mystery shopper reported that the Morrisons' supermarket on Hollinwood Avenue in Oldham was well merchandised and clean. She found the items on her shopping list without difficulty and said the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. That performance earned the Hollinwood Avenue store our Top Store award.

The Tesco supermarket in Loughborough, Leicestershire, was being renovated when our mystery shopper visited. Nonetheless, she had a positive experience as the store had overstaffed to ensure that customers had additional guidance during the disruption.

The staff at the Somerfield in Springburn, Glasgow, were also very helpful and friendly, according to our shopper. However, the store did not have four of the items on her shopping list and she was overcharged for her pears.

Our mystery shopper at the Waitrose on Western Road in Brighton said the store was very well kept and organised except for the drinks section. She noted that the fresh fruit and vegetable section was presented beautifully.

The Sainsbury's on Emersons Green in Bristol was in very bad condition when our shopper visited. She reported that the store was "very dirty" and that many of the shelves had gaps in the stock.
