Morrions has raised more than £1.3m for hospice care through its ‘Raise a Smile’ campaign.

The UK-wide initiative, in partnership with charity Help the Hospices, twinned every Morrisons store with its nearest hospice for a year of fundraising activities.

In-store collections, special events and exclusive products, including a 10p contribution from every sale of a limited edition Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar of Plenty, helped Morrisons exceed its £1m target.

The money will go to help hospices deliver care, including training, education and resources for hospice staff.

Hundreds of Morrisons staff have been celebrating the fundraising success by visiting their local hospices.

“Statistically around half of our customers are likely to know someone who has been cared for by a hospice, so Help the Hospices was an excellent choice as our Raise a Smile partner,” said Morrisons corporate services director Martyn Jones.

“Working with a huge network of over 180 local hospices has given us an exciting opportunity to do something on a national scale that has a real impact on local communities.”
