Analysts have dismissed rumours that supermarket group Morrisons could be the target of a takeover bid.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that a consortium including private equity groups Texas Pacific and Permira could be considering a £6bn bid.

However, Nick Coulter, an analyst at Morgan Stanley, said: “We believe that a Morrisons leveraged buy-out would be a tough deal to do, even with the co-operation of Sir Ken Morrison, which is questionable.”
