Wm Morrison is targeting Lloyds TSB’s finance director Helen Weir as a possible non-executive director.

Sir Ken Morrison has promised the group’s shareholders that he will appoint four new non-executive director in the near future after securing Richard Pennycook as group finance director last week.

Media reports suggest that Weir met Sir Ken in London last week. However, she is still to meet David Jones, Morrisons’ deputy chairman.

Weir has a background in retail, having been finance director at B&Q for five years and finance director at Kingfisher between 2000 and 2004.

Sir Ken is also rumoured to have approached Archie Norman, former executive of Asda, as a possible non-executive director. Norman recently stepped down as a Conservative MP.
