Forecourt operator MRH (GB) has promised "impending expansion", prompting speculation it could be eyeing Murco or Total UK.

In a recent job ad for area managers, the company, formed in 2007 to acquire Malthurst Group and Pace Petroleum, said it was looking to recruit "due to impending expansion of our business".

MRH is the UK's biggest independent forecourt retailer with more than 300 sites and has been touted as a bidder for all or part of Murco and Total UK. Murco was put on the market by parent company Murphy Oil in July, while Total UK went up in September.

The company admitted in June it was consideringsome "attractive acquisition opportunities in both the UK and international markets" after the national press incorrectly reported that MRH (GB) was to be sold for £300m.
