Scotland's c-store operators have nothing to fear from Safeway and Sainsbury launches of convenience formats in Scotland, said Scottish Grocers' Federation president Jim Botterill. "There will always be room for good c-stores in Scotland. The multiples are not good at convenience. For example Sainsbury Local is not a rounded offer, it sells mainly fresh food and doesn't carry non-food convenience lines or services that are so important to convenience customers, for example PayPoint," Botterill said. He added that convenience-stores presented distribution problems for the multiples because they were geared up for large volumes for big stores. {{NEWS }}
