John Murray, who left Spar wholesaler Capper & Co last autumn to join Harris International Marketing, has moved to Spar UK as national account director.
Murray replaces Jim Cree, who has returned to his native Scotland to oversee Spar wholesaler CJ Lang & Son's foodservice business.
Murray will oversee the 170 Naafi/Spar stores with combined turnover of £100m from Spar's base in Harrow. He was operations executive for Capper & Co's company owned stores. He will be looking to build on the recent turnaround of Naafi, which posted a £0.5m profit in the year to April 2002. Spar managing director Jerry Marwood said: "We are very pleased to welcome John back to the Spar organisation and I am sure that his extensive retailing experience will be put to good use in further growing sales through Naafi/Spar stores."
