Asda president Andy Bond has set a new agenda for colleagues at Asda House by urging them to get out to stores every week.
The company already runs a store-adoption policy for senior managers. The scheme is now being extended to all 1,000 Asda House colleagues.
Bond intends to lead the ‘Thursday Store Day’ initiative by example. He plans to get out to the shop floor as often as possible to listen to staff at the coalface. All colleagues at Asda House will get the opportunity to regularly check up on the effectiveness of their policies, but they will also learn a great deal more from stores, said a spokeswoman for Asda.
The scheme was intended to improve all trading issues such as availability, ranges, price and merchandising, she said. “Everyone at Asda House has to find a way to get into store to talk to colleagues as they gear up for the weekend. If there are any issues, we can try to resolve them as quickly as possible.”
