Gavin Neath, chief executive of Unilever Bestfoods, has taken over as president of the grocery industry charity Caravan (formerly known as the National Grocers' Benevolent Fund). Neath, who took over from former Sainsbury retail director Robin Whitbread, said: "I hope to continue and build on the excellent work that Robin has achieved and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead." During Whitbread's year as president, the charity increased its income by £1.5m and was rebranded as Caravan. "I was lucky enough to be president during a very exciting time in Caravan's history," he said Whitbread will remain involved with Caravan as a member of the board of trustees. {{NEWS }}
