Nestlé has reported a 32.4% increase in net profit to 3.7bn Swiss francs ($2.92bn) in its half-year results.

The group also revealed a 2.4% increase in sales for the period.

Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, chairman and chief executive officer of Nestlé, said that the results were in line with expectations.

“These results have been achieved despite continuing input cost pressures and difficult trading environments in a number of markets,” he said.

Brabeck-Letmathe added that trading conditions would continue to remain challenging in a number of markets but the group would achieve its organic growth target.
