Tesco has reached a new record share of the grocery market and extended its lead over Sainsbury and Asda, according to the latest data from TNS.

Tesco’s share is now 26.9%, up from 26.7% last month. Sainsbury and Asda remain unchanged at 16.8% and 16.3% respectively.

Safeway continued its slide as the only supermarket to lose sales in the year to June 22, 2003, with a drop of 1.7%. Its market share is now 9.5%.
